In the first weekend of 2007, PWR and Castrol went to Summernats and put on a trade display that blew everyone away!
Held inside a 625m2 pavilion in PWR Performance Park, PWR/Castrol EDGE hosted the return of the legendary Victor Bray to Summernats. Victor and Ben Bray were there along with the 2500HP Burnout Chev, the Impala Lowrider, the Monaro doorslammer and the biggest attraction in the stand – Victor’s original 57 Chev ‘Black Bess’. Vic may not agree, but this is claimed to be the worlds first ‘Rat Rod’! It was also the first ever car entered into a Summernats burnout competition!
PWR’s chassis dyno was brought up from Melbourne and had our new PWR Blown VE SS Commodore completing dyno runs every hour. PWR’s engine man, Carl Gibson worked toward a figure of 600Hp at the rear wheels and on Saturday afternoon achieved an awsome 619 rear wheel HP! All this with a standard engine bottom end...
Also on hand for his first appearance with PWR, was V8 Supercar recruit Paul Dumbrell. He will be driving for PWR Racing in the #51 SuperCheap Auto Racing VE Commodore in 2007. Along with Paul Weel, PD spent the weekend signing autographs, cruising in the Holden PWR Burnout Crewman (with the gorgeous PWR/Castrol Promo girls…) and getting his hands dirty helping with customer enquiries.
One of Castrol’s chemists - Rod Crowe, was there from Sydney and he was able to help a lot of customers with correct application and general info about oil life, warming your engine as well as transmission queries.
Prizes were given throughout the weekend including 3 limited edition, signed Castrol framed prints.
Overall, Summernats in 2007 was a successful trip for the PWR/Castrol team, and we’ll see you there in 2008!
